PART 1: CHAMPION REFERENCE

"Power rises with the tide when champions stand together."

1. Champion Growth (Aptitude) Season Progression

You don't gain "Levels" in the traditional sense. Instead, you earn Aptitude Points through tournament victories and Mono encounters. Add Aptitude directly to your Pool Maxima (Resilience, Focus, or Spirit). Increasing your pools unlocks new Tiers of champion mastery:

Island Connection: Your Tier determines which islands you can safely challenge and which Mono you can face in tournaments.

2. Island Heritage & Combat Styles

Your heritage from the islands of Lau grants unique advantages that grow stronger as your champion party works together.

3. The Tide-Forged Armory Weapon Upgrading

To unlock Tier 2 or Tier 3 champion abilities, you must "Tide-Forge" your weapon during a Short Rest at a Sacred Shore.

d20 + Spirit + Island Heritage + Tide Shards (+2 bonus)

Forging Costs:

  • Tier 2 Upgrade: 3 Prism Shells
  • Tier 3 Upgrade: 1 Glimmer Shell

The Champion's Leap (T1 → T3): -5 penalty to roll. Additional cost: +6 Prism Shells & +8 Common Shells.

Tide-Forging Results:

Tidal Connection: Forging during high tide grants +1 bonus. During a moon festival, gain +2 bonus to your roll.

4. Champion Synergy & Island Bounty

Champion Synergy: Spend 1 Synergy point to aid allies.

  • Small Group: Ally gains +2 to next roll
  • Medium Group: Ally gains +4 to next roll
  • Tournament Team: +5 to TWO different allies

Island Harvest: The fruits of Lau provide powerful restorative effects.

  • Star Berries: Heal d6 damage
  • Iron Mango: Restore full Resilience & Focus
  • Glow Melon: Restore full Spirit & Synergy
  • Golden Fig: Restore all pools completely

Tournament Feast: During island tournaments (7-8 players), Star Berries heal two champions at once.

PART 2: ISLAND MASTER'S GUIDE

"The tides of challenge rise to meet the champions who face them."

1. Dynamic Island Challenges Mono Encounters

Adjust the threat level based on how many champions have come to test themselves against the Mono of Lau.

2. The Tide's Judgment (d100) Forging Consequences

If a champion fails their Tide-Forging roll (d20), they must immediately roll a d100 Resilience Save:

TIDE ROLL RESULT CONSEQUENCE
01-40 Unstable Tide Only the "Leap Tax" (extra shells) is lost. Upgrade fails but shells are safe.
41-80 Tidal Collapse All Shells used are destroyed. Weapon is Jammed (No abilities for 1 scene).
81-95 Shattered Resonance All Shells lost. Weapon Base Damage becomes 1. Triggers "Tide's Wrath" Mission.
96-100 Tidal Miracle The forge fails, but the champion keeps all shells and gains +1 Luck permanently.

3. Tournament Rewards & Island Economy

Aptitude Points are awarded after each encounter and added directly to Pool Maxima.

4. The Tournament Finale Elder Mono Encounter

To keep tournament finals challenging for large champion groups:

  1. Tidal Phases: The Elder Mono acts at Initiative 20, 15, 10, and 5, representing changing tides.
  2. Aptitude Drain: On a hit, the Mono reduces a champion's Max Pool by 2 (restored after Short Rest at a safe shore).
  3. Stun Threshold: The Mono is immune to Stun unless 3 different champions apply Stun effects in the same round.
  4. Tide Call: Every 3 rounds, the Mono summons 1d4+1 Young Mono to aid it.

ISLAND MISSION: The Tide's Wrath Recovery

If a champion's weapon is Shattered (d100 roll 81-95):

  • The Hook: The champions must journey to a Tidal Spire during a specific moon phase to re-attune the weapon.
  • The Challenge: 3-Round combat against Tide-Corrupted Mono. Each corrupted creature defeated grants the champion +2 Tidal Resonance.
  • Success: If the champion reaches 30 Tidal Resonance, the weapon is restored with +1 permanent bonus. If 31+, it Ascends (Instant T3 unlock with unique visual effect).

Island Master Tip: This mission works perfectly as a side quest during a tournament season, giving a disadvantaged champion a chance to shine.
